Study Abroad

World Language and Culture Studies

Today's employers are looking for people who have a global perspective and direct experience with other cultures and this is why Simpson places such value on our students' study abroad experiences. By studying abroad, you can expand your understanding of the world, learn to appreciate cultures beyond your own, look at your own culture with a fresh perspective, increase your proficiency in another language and gain a new sense of self-confidence.

All study abroad programs are led by Simpson professors and are open to all Simpson students regardless of their major. So prepare to explore, learn and grow through the many global discovery opportunities provided through Simpson College. It's one more way your Simpson Experience can help you achieve success in your life.

Three semester-long experiences that may have special interest to World Languages and Culture Studies students are:

Concepción, Chile

Spend a semester immersed in the culture, history, language, and literature of Chile under the direction of a Simpson professor. Work on your language skills while getting to know your Chilean host families and visiting important historical and cultural sites including Chile’s capital, Santiago.

Schorndorf, Germany

During this intensive learning experience led by a Simpson professor, study German language, culture, history, and literature while living with German families. Included are visits to historical and cultural sites and week-long study tours to Munich and Berlin.

Tahiti, French Polynesia

Study for a semester in the tropical paradise of a South Pacific island which offers a rich cultural environment combining both Western and non-Western cultural elements in one location. All students, regardless of major, are welcome to participate in the program with the prerequisite of FREN 111.
