Simpson College Jazz Ensemble
If you enjoy performing big band music from the past seven decades, you'll find a home in the Jazz Ensemble. The group, which plays a full concert each semester as well as appearances on and off campus, places an emphasis on good musicianship, stylistic considerations, jazz techniques and a commitment to improvisation. You will learn from nationally and internationally known visiting jazz artists who are brought to campus each year.

Chamber Ensembles
Simpson College features a wide assortment of chamber music ensembles, such as the Lekberg Winds, saxophone quartets, flute choir, pep band and more. These groups typically play a variety of concert venues each semester.

Simpson Marching Storm
The Marching Storm is open to both music majors and non-music majors regardless of previous experience. This ensemble is responsible for creating a spirited atmosphere at Simpson College home football games. While this ensemble performs more popular music, we still hold students to a high standard of musicianship, tone quality, and performance etiquette. There may be opportunities for exhibition performances at area competitions. This ensemble incorporates a color guard, and may perform with flags, rifles, or other implements as the show dictates. Our band camp takes place one week prior to classes beginning.

Simpson Pep Band
The Simpson Pep Band is open to both music majors and non-music majors. This ensemble performs at men's and women's home basketball games. The pep band performs from a binder of more than 40 charts. This ensemble is organized as a club, rather than a class, so students don't have to sign up and pay for credit. Instead, they receive a small stipend on a per-game basis as compensation for their time. The Simpson Pep Band performs with a drum set instead of a full drum line.
