It's impossible to deny the impact women have had on history, society, literature, government and the list goes on. Become engaged in feminist ethics and philosophy, learn about women's history and explore the sociology and psychology of gender. It's all part of Simpson's commitment to a creative, diverse and just community.
What will I learn?
You will be engaged in an awareness of women's contributions, concerns, perspectives and theories. You will also focus on gender, race and class issues. From the classroom to the campus, you’ll see there are a variety of ways to get involved in the issues that interest you.
This course will provide you with an introductory look into women and gender in the United States. Gender-based inequities and their impact on people of all classes, races, sexual and ethnic identifications will be discussed. You will explore the ways in which gender is constructed and the extent to which gender affects access to opportunity, power and resources. Learn strategies for critiquing gender roles and working toward gender justice while formulating and supporting your own independent viewpoints of the issues.
