Physical Education Teacher Education

The Sport Science and Health Education Department offers many opportunities for career choices in health and physical education.

The physical education major is for students who want to obtain licensure to teach physical education in grades K-12. This major requires courses from the Sport Science and Education Departments.

The PETE major combines theoretical knowledge with practical application by working with students in area schools. Students have numerous opportunities to apply teaching concepts in high, middle, and elementary school settings, culminating in a semester-long student teaching experience.

Students can receive a K-8 or a 5-12 teaching endorsement or a health endorsement for K-12.
