“Hidden Scars” Author Headlines Justice Week Events at Simpson
Cheyenne Hanson, who survived 14 years of domestic and sexual violence, will share her powerful message during a special presentation set for at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, in Hubbell Hall, as part of Justice Week events at Simpson College. Hanson’s memoir, “Hidden Scars,” chronicles her courageous journey out of captivity — an inspiring story of resilience in reclaiming her life after trauma.
Simpson’s Justice Week events are coordinated by the College’s Religious Life Community. Student interns work collaboratively with other student organizations and campus offices to offer a variety of events that engage participants to learn more about justice as a core Simpson value, connect with organizations on and off campus that engage in advocacy work, and experience the stories of people from all backgrounds.
Justice Week culminates with “Unite for Justice” (formerly March to End the Isms), an opportunity for the campus community to demonstrate the justice issues that matter most to them through sign making and a march across campus and around Indianola’s square.
