Class of 20 Levi Lefebure: Going the Distance
Membership Development Manager, Iowa Association of Business and Industry (ABI)

“Simpson fostered an environment of involvement. If you wanted to make a difference on campus, you were able to do so.”

Going the Distance
Good luck keeping up with Levi Lefebure ’20. Simpson’s former track and cross-country competitor is constantly on the move across Iowa, in his role as membership development manager for the Iowa Association of Business and Industry (ABI). His role involves working with current and prospective members in ABI’s quest to continually grow Iowa’s oldest and largest statewide business association.
“The coolest thing I get to do is travel the state learning about how many amazing companies there are right here in Iowa,” said Lefebure. “Last year, I had an event or meeting in just about half of Iowa’s 99 counties.”
Initially, Lefebure intended to pursue a career in politics. But his freshman May Term course exploring Iowa political careers created connections that opened his eyes to exciting possibilities in the world of business.
“I still remember visiting the ABI office, hearing from now ABI President Nicole Crain ’05 and being so impressed,” said Lefebure. “Post-graduation, I was able to get connected with Nicole through Simpson professor Kedron Bardwell and a couple of conversations with ABI’s leadership led me to my current role.”
One to Watch
Lefebure has earned a spot on the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce’s “Watch List,” which highlights up-and-coming community leaders. When he isn’t driving across the state, he’s running across the country, and soon the world — 26.2 miles at a time.
He says the “pure bliss” of completing Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth, Minn., inspired his goal to run all seven of the Abbott World Major Marathons. He is well on his way, having already completed the Boston and Chicago Marathons. The remaining majors are in New York City, London, Tokyo, Sydney and Berlin, where he will compete in September 2025.
“As part of that effort, I am raising money for the Herren Project, which aids in substance abuse addiction prevention and recovery. Substance addiction has impacted my family, so raising money for Herren while preparing for my third World Major is incredibly fulfilling.”
