Ways to Get Involved

Students are encouraged to gain a competitive edge by completing at least one internship during college. Many students find opportunities in the Greater Des Moines area, but others travel to other parts of the US and the world to gain experience.

Why do internships matter? First, it’s a great way to gain practical experience and an understanding of what your career might look like. Second, our majors have enjoyed great success turning internships into jobs. Some receive offers before they graduate.

CEO at Simpson College affiliates with the national Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization to connect and network with other chapters across the country. Students work in entrepreneurial teams on real-world projects such as re-igniting the Simpson yearbook, launching an on-campus game rental business and exploring their own business ideas. Collaborating with CEO class members provides insights from other students’ perspectives. CEO participants interact with Des Moines metro-area entrepreneurs, meet with area business leaders and attend startup community events such as 1 Million Cups in Des Moines.

Impact of Internships

Since my dual majors of marketing communication and business management are such broad majors with the reach of numerous jobs, my three internships have been super valuable in letting me dip my toes into a bunch of different roles in the industry. They have helped me find exactly how I want to use diverse degrees to my advantage.
