American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment

Students walking through gates with bikeIn the fall of 2008, President Byrd signed the Presidents Climate Commitment, calling on Simpson to implement serious changes in sustainability and create a plan for attaining carbon neutrality. While the ultimate goal is still distant, Simpson has already taken many steps towards a more sustainable establishment.

“Signing the Climate Commitment was simply the right thing for Simpson College to do. Sustainability is about leaving an environment and leaving your resources so the next generation can be successful. I'm very committed to making sure we follow through and accomplish the goals that we have set out to meet.”
                             Simpson College President, John Byrd

The Climate Commitment has led to the establishment of  new campus organizations such as EarthCorps and the Sustainability Committee.
