Philosophy

The big picture — see it, understand it, challenge it, and change it.

Philosophy

What many people don’t know about philosophy is that it provides a broader view and understanding of the world and equips you with the tools to be a change agent in whatever you choose.

Learn to think critically, write creatively, and work through the importance of what is being said or written.

You will explore and understand how philosophy aids in studying all other disciplines and in the endeavor to formulate and resolve practical problems in contemporary society and culture.

Your gateway to a rewarding future

Get started with an internship. Simpson’s location close to the Des Moines metro area provides many opportunities. Recent internship experiences have included the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Dwolla, and the Center for Rural Affairs in Nebraska.

Continue to the workforce. Our graduates work in various fields, including business, medicine, law, communications, and public policy. Employers value this versatile degree as graduates have a deeper and more critical understanding of themselves, their values, and the philosophies competing for their allegiance.

Graduate schools are eager to accept Simpson graduates. Philosophy majors have studied at Clemson University, Washington University in St. Louis, the University of Iowa, the University of Minnesota, the University of Missouri in Columbia, and Penn State, to name a few.
