Dear Simpson College Community,
I want to reassure our campus community that we are working around the clock to respond rapidly to this evolving situation. I also want to reiterate that it is my main focus to keep the safety of EVERY single member of our campus community top of mind. We also are dedicated to maintaining the integrity and quality of a Simpson College education during these tumultuous times.
Graduation Update
Not only as your interim President, but as a father of two Simpson College graduates, it is with a heavy heart that I announce, given current Centers for Disease Control guidelines, that we are postponing commencement to a later date still yet to be determined. There are multiple considerations and we will announce details as they are finalized. I want to assure you that we are committed to providing an opportunity for the class to celebrate. I promise that we will be in touch with further details as they are made.
Spring 2020 Campus Events
All campus events and on-campus student activities for Spring 2020 [March 17-April 30] are cancelled. We recognize that one of the cornerstones of higher education is community. We are in the process of developing innovative ways to connect and ensure the Simpson community remains united during this global crisis.
Steven Johnson Fitness Center
The fitness center will remain closed until April 30, 2020 per federal and state guidelines and recommendations. We will revisit this topic as the situation unfolds and continue to provide regular updates.
Campus Admission Visits
We have determined, for the health and safety of all, that we are cancelling all individual campus visits to campus for admitted and prospective students until April 12, 2020.
