Multimedia Communication Opportunities

There are many ways to engage in a variety of opportunities in and around the Multimedia Communication department.

Enter the workforce while you're still in college.

Internships are critical to the success of Simpson’s students in Multimedia Communication for several reasons:

  • They provide professional experience.
  • They show future employers you can do the job.
  • They often lead to job offers.

All of our students complete one internship and 70 percent complete at least two in four years. Simpson's proximity to a major metropolitan and media center gives our students a decided advantage over other colleges. Our students have interned in the past for USA Today, KCCI Channel 8, the Iowa Cubs, Meredith Corporation, Lessing Flynn Advertising, the Greater Des Moines Partnership, Student Press Law Center, Dow Jones News Fund and the Des Moines Radio Group, among many others.

Students also have opportunities to take part in unique semester-long internship programs in New York City and Washington, D.C.

By taking advantage of a cooperative New York Media Experience Program administered by Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Simpson students have had the opportunity to intern at places like Fox News Channel, CBS News, CBS Productions, Sports Illustrated magazine and Interscope Records.

Through the college’s Capitol Hill Internship Program (CHIP), students have interned at Free Speech Radio Network, USA Today, Roll Call newspaper and congressional offices.

Simpson’s substantial connections and alumni network within the professional world means that you’ll have more opportunities for internships than at other schools.
