What will I learn?

This interdisciplinary minor will provide you with the fundamental tools of data exploration, visualization and modeling that can be applied to any major where data is used.

You will study fundamentals of descriptive and inferential statistics through business applications. Topics include central tendency and variability, frequency distributions, elementary probability theory, binomial, normal, and t-distributions, sampling theory, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing and regression analysis.

Why minor in data analytics?

Pursuing a minor in this area will result in a deeper understanding of how to use big data in research, inference or exploration in whatever career you may choose. Careers in the fields of biology, environmental science, management, economics, health services leadership, sociology, psychology and others use data to develop deeper insights and prompt strategic decision-making.
