Makeup Crew

Pre-Technical Rehearsal Duties

Attend Company Meeting(s.) (see schedule for dates and times)
Attend Company Run Through. ( see schedule for dates and times)
Attend Work-Call
Normally assist in Inventorying, identifying, otherwise preparing Makeup
Normally assist Makeup Designer and in planning & preparing
Familiarize yourself with Makeup: (may be done during work-call/otherwise a day or more before tech begins)

Makeup Designs
Techniques and application issues

Attend all Technical & Dress Rehearsals identified as Makeup Rehearsals at assigned call times. (see tech schedule for dates and times)

Bring:
Writing material & implements
Wear Blacks: (see tech schedule for date, usually first or second dress rehearsal) black slacks or jeans and long sleeve shirt (turtleneck or tee)

Preparation of Cue Sheets and Checklists and updating the Show.
You may be given an updated Makeup Design Sheets, Makeup Materials Lists, Makeup Assignment Sheet, Pre-Show Setup, and Quick-Change Makeup Cues at start of first Makeup Tech or you may have to record all instructions given during rehearsal as they are given and assist the Makeup Designer in creating them.

You will have to accept Makeup Crew assignments detailing what duties you fill for Pre-Show Setup, Production Run, and Post-Show Cleanup of Makeup.

Instructions will be provided by: Stage Manager, Assistant Stage Manager, Makeup Designer and/or Costume Shop Supervisor.

Assist the Makeup Designer in creating updates to the updated Makeup Design Sheets, Makeup Materials Lists, Makeup Assignment Sheet, Pre-Show Setup, and Quick-Change Makeup Cues immediately prior to, during, and immediately following Tech & Dress Rehearsals.

Be prepared to provide copies of the current updated Makeup Design Sheets, Makeup Materials Lists, Makeup Assignment Sheet, Pre-Show Setup, and Quick-Change Makeup Cues to the Makeup Designer at final dress or earlier.

During Technical Rehearsals and Dress Rehearsals

Duties will likely include:

Participating in Pre-Show Setup of Makeup Supplies and makeup area.
Performing Pre-Show Makeups on assigned cast members..
Performing maintenance on Makeup during Rehearsal.
Performing Quick-Change Makeup Cues as assigned during Rehearsal
Participating in the Post-Show Cleanup of Makeup areas.
Performing other tasks as assigned

During Productions

Attend all Performances at assigned call times. (see tech schedule for dates and times)

Bring:
Fair copy of all updated Makeup Design Sheets, Makeup Materials Lists, Makeup Assignment Sheet, Pre-Show Setup, and Quick-Change Makeup Cues
(these should remain in Theatre after dress rehearsals begin)
Small Flashlight
Wear Blacks

Participate in Pre-Show Setup, performing duties as assigned by the Makeup Designer and trouble-shooting any problems that arise during Pre-Show Setup.

Report completing of Makeup Applications to & provide Makeup Designer and/or Stage Manager with the Makeup Preshow Check Report immediately following completion.

Perform all duties as assigned and as recorded

Take Cues from the Stage Manager or Assistant Stage Manager and/or Wardrobe/Makeup Master during run of show.

Participate in the Post-Show Cleanup of Makeup including returning Makeup Supplies to appropriate storage locations inventorying Makeup, cleaning area, applicators and appliances, and making minor repairs, and performing duties as assigned by the Makeup Designer and/or the Wardrobe/Makeup Master.

Report any damage or shortage of Makeup materials to the Makeup Designer and/or the Wardrobe/Makeup Master by the end of the cleanup session or as they become apparent and assist in devising a strategy for repairing or replenishing the defective or deficient material.

Strike

Attend Strike (see tech schedule for dates and times)
Normally assist in restoring Makeup to its proper storage, returning items to proper place in storage and identifying any personal Makeup items that must be returned to other individuals, theatre companies, and organizations.
Normally assist the Wardrobe Run Crew in cleaning the Makeup Rooms.
Turn fair copies of Makeup Design Sheets, Makeup Materials Lists, Makeup Assignment Sheet, Pre-Show Setup, and Quick-Change Makeup Cues in to the Makeup Designer and/or the Wardrobe/Makeup Master.
