Study Amidstthe Wonders of Spanish Culture in Spring and May Term 2008
Simpson's "Semester in Spain" offers students the opportunity to improve their language skills, immerse themselves in contemporary Spanish culture and learn more about the rich history of the Iberian Peninsula. While in Spain, students will live with host families in Seville, a key cultural/historical center of the Andalusia region. This locale, coupled with the home stay component of the program, allows students to take advantage of their cultural surroundings and resources in order to enrich their learning in and out of the classroom. Language courses, literature courses, a course in Contemporary Spain, and the opportunity to become involved in community outreach and service learning make Simpson's "Semester in Spain" unique. The program is designed so students experience the "real" Spain rather than "tourist" Spain. At the conclusion of the semester program, the May term course, "Spanish Cultural Centers," offers students the opportunity to explore other regions of Spain including Castile and Catalonia.
