The "Simpson Experience Abroad" in Schorndorf, Germany

Spring and May Term, 2009

Building facework in SchorndorfThe "Simpson Experience Abroad" in Schorndorf, Germany offers students an intensive living and learning experience in Germany. The program is located in Schorndorf, a city of 40,000 some 30 minutes from Stuttgart. Students live with German families and receive daily instruction in German language, culture, history and literature. Theater, opera, concerts and museums in Stuttgart provide the advantages of a large city. On weekends, students travel to cultural and historical sites. Included are also week-long study tours to Berlin and Munich. Students depart in early January and return in May.

A May Term course is also offered as part of the program, which gives students Global Awareness credit. The Program's May Term '09 course will be "Expanding the Eurpopean Union:  Germany and Poland" and plan to visit Berlin, Frankfurt on the Oder, Krosno, and Krakow as they study the economic and social policy aspects of the EU and how they play out in a border region (Germany/Poland).
