Athlete Spotlight- Lara Gillespie
Position: Middle Hitter
High School and Hometown: Harris High School, Lake Park, Iowa
Honors: Academic All-Conference, letterwinner
Lara Gillespie chose Simpson because she knew her involvement on campus wouldn't have to be limited to sports.
Outside of volleyball, Gillespie is involved in Greek Life as a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and as records keeper for Panhellenic Council. She is also a new member of PRSSA, a public relations group on campus.
Gillespie is happy about the volleyball team's performance so far this season.
"Everything is going well," she said. "Our defense has gotten a lot better. We are just trying to improve a little more each day and keep our energy high."
Gillespie has learned many things as a student-athlete she feels will help her after she graduates.
"Volleyball builds my confidence level," she said. "I've learned how to manage my time and get along with different types of people."
