Christensen Earns All-Tournament Honors at Elmhurst
ELMHURST, Ill. (Oct. 17, 2009) - The Simpson volleyball team defeated Greensboro and host-Elmhurst on the final day of the Elmhurst College Volleyball Invitational II Saturday, closing the weekend with a 3-1 record.
Simpson (16-10, 5-1 IIAC) defeated Greensboro 3-0 in the first match of the day, 25-13, 25-18, 25-22. In the final match, the Storm took Elmhurst 3-2, 15-19, 26-28, 25-27, 25-15, 15-10. Statistics were not available upon completion of the tournament.
On the first day of the tournament, the Storm defeated Wheaton (Ill.), 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-19) and fell to Concordia-Chicago, 3-2 (25-23, 17-25, 11-25, 25-18, 15-11).
Tara Christensen earned all-tornament honors for the first time this season.
Simpson, returns to Iowa Conference play Tuesday when it travles to Cedar Rapids to take on Coe. The varsity match is set to get underway at 7:30 p.m., following a JV match at 6.
