Athlete Spotlight - Lauren Bucklin

High School and Hometown: Bondurant-Farrar High School/Bondurant, Iowa
Honors: All-American, All-Conference, Academic All-Conference, Indoor and Outdoor NCAA Division III Championship qualifier
Senior Lauren Bucklin has many goals for her final semester at Simpson.
She is hoping complete her academic studies with “flying colors” while continuing to lower her times and splits in all of the events she competes in during the track season.
“I want to be a success at the conference meet and score as many points as I can for our team, so we place well as a team at the at the indoor and outdoor meets,” Bucklin said. “I also want to make it to indoor and outdoor nationals. Once there, I can make more goals, but I am sure I will have plans to be an All-American again.”
Bucklin also hopes that many of her teammates will make nationals.
“Making it to nationals is such an awesome experience and it gives you so much motivation to keep working hard,” Buckin said. “There are a lot of hard working people on our team, and I want them to be able to experience such a wonderful thing. Getting a relay team to nationals would be amazing!”
One of Bucklin’s favorite memories from last year’s track season was the indoor conference meet at Central.
“It was down to the last event and we had to win the 4x400 to beat Central and place in the meet,” she said. “We did it and it was such a great feeling to achieve success for the team.”
