Simpson Earns First W Tennis Victory Over BV 7-2
Simpson earned its first women's tennis victory of the 2008 season with a 7-2 win over Buena Vista Sept. 3 in Storm Lake. The Storm opened the meet by winning 2-of-3 doubles matches. The duo of Jessica Nims (Sr., Urbandale, Iowa, Urbandale H.S.) and Jill Berner (So., Albia, Iowa, Albia H.S.) defeated Katie Anderson and Jamie Anliker 8-6 in the No. 1 slot. Alissa Nance (Sr., Indianola, Iowa, Indianola H.S.) and Jackie Suckow (Sr., West Des Moines, Iowa, Valley H.S.) earned an 8-3 victory over Megan Anderson and Nicole Hansen at No. 2 doubles.
In singles action, Suckow defeated Katie Arentson 6-3, 7-5 at No. 1. Berner won at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0, over Hansen. Nance earned the win at No. 4 singles by defeating Emily Gutschenritter 6-0, 6-2. Gwen Kingsbury (Sr., Indianola, Iowa, Indianola H.S.) went three sets to win at No. 5 singles. Kingsbury beat Jamie Anliker 6-2, 1-6, 10-2. Lynae Gruber (Fr., Shenandoah, Iowa, Shenandoah H.S.) earned the final Storm singles victory, a 6-3, 6-2 decision, over Jen Flint at No. 6 singles.
Simpson resumes action Sept. 6 when the Storm host Graceland in a 10 a.m. dual.
