Simpson Falls To Cornell and Coe
Simpson dropped two duals to open the 2008 women’s tennis season Aug. 30 in Indianola. Cornell College defeated Simpson 9-0 in the opener. Alissa Nance (Sr., Indianola, Iowa, Indianola H.S.) and Jackie Suckow (Sr., West Des Moines, Iowa, Valley H.S.) lost 9-7 at No. 2 singles to Caryl Abeyta and Annabelle Milliken in the closest doubles match of the dual. Nance lost 6-1, 7-5 to Kendall Bielinski at No. 5 singles at No. 4 singles, the tightest singles match of the dual.
Coe defeated Simpson 9-0 in the final dual of the day. Nance was once again in the closest singles match of the dual, as she lost 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 to Susan Gilmer in the No. 4 singles match. The Storm are back at it Tuesday when Simpson travels to Grinnell for a 3:30 p.m. dual.
