Simpson Eighth At Grinnell Invitational
The Simpson College women's swimming team finished eighth (40) at the Grinnell Invitational Jan. 16-17 in Grinnell. Luther (631) won the team event. Simpson scored in four events.
The 200 freestyle relay of Ali Robinson (Fr., Atlantic, Iowa, Atlantic H.S.), Chelsey Croson (Sr., Newton, Iowa, Newton H.S.), Catherine Mayes (Fr., Muscatine, Iowa, Muscatine H.S.), and Kirsten Towne (Sr., Gowrie, Iowa, Prairie Valley H.S.) were 14th in a time of 1:57.39.
The 400 freestyle relay of Mayes, Croson, Amanda Fichter (So., Sidney, Iowa, Sidney H.S.), and Kendra Frush (Sr., Jesup, Iowa, Jesup H.S.) were 13th with a time of 5:14.72.
The 200 medley relay of Mayes, Mackenzie Hinrichs (So., Altoona, Iowa, Southeast Polk H.S.), Croson, and Frush were 19th with a time of 2:16.19.
The 400 freestyle relay of Robinson, Croson, Kayla Miller (So., Odebolt, Iowa, Odebolt-Arthur High School), and Fichter finished 20th (4:35.70).
"It was a freally fast meet that we had a lot of time drops," said Simpson head coach Aaron Strain. "Jamie Summers, Andrea Benson, and Janine Kobylinski did a great job in the mile."
Simpson dives back into the pool on Friday, Jan. 23 by hosting Coe in a dual beginning at 6:30 p.m.
