Athlete Profile - Kelsie Host
Position: Outfield
High School and Hometown: Southeast Polk High School, Altoona, Iowa
Honors: First team All-American, First team All-Conference, First team All-Region
Junior Kelsie Host never expected to be named a First team All-American so early in her college softball career.
Host received the award last year and flew to Virginia to receive the honor. While in Virginia, she was also able to watch some of the national softball tournament games.
"It's my best achievement," said Host. "It felt amazing, knowing all of my hard work and determination has paid off."
In addition to All-American honors, Host also broke the triples record for Simpson. She hopes to break her own record this year and is hopeful that with young talent, the team will have a very successful year.
"I have high expectations for both myself and the team," she said. "I got to watch some of the national games last year, and I really hope we make it there. It would be an amazing experience."
