Softball beats Cornell in game 1, game two rained out
After falling behind 3-2 in the top of the sixth, Jessica Barkley (left) (Jr. Mitchellville, IA) knocked a solo home run to the tie the score at 3 and send the game into extra innings. In the bottom of the 8th, in just her 4th at bat of the season Jessica Hartgers
(right) (Jr. Colfax, IA) hit a 3-run walk off home run to beat Cornell 6-3 on Senior Day at Simpson College. Kortney Proctor went 2-3 at the plate with a double. Bryn Johnson (So. Laurens, IA) was credited with the win, Johnson is now 7-1 on the year. Game two was called due to lightning in the 4th inning which does not constitute an official game. The Storm finished the regular season 26-15 overall and 7-8 in the Iowa Conference. Simpson will play Luther College in the first round of the Iowa Conference tournament Thursday April 30 at 10:00 a.m. in Pella, Iowa at Central College.
