Storm defeats Buena Vista in both games on Sunday
The Simpson softball team travelled to Storm Lake Iowa this weekend for an Iowa Conference double header against Buena Vista. The Storm defeated the Beavers in both games; 1-0 and 3-0. Veronica Roshek (left) had two hits in game 1, a single and a double that drove in Kiersten Ruff, the game's only run. Senior, Carlye Owens also had two hits in the game on 3 at bats. Bryn Johnson earned the win for Simpson, her 6th of the year.
Game 2 was a defensive battle for five innings until Carlye Owens drove in Carissa Coopman, who pinch ran for Keri Sorensen in the top of the 6th. Simpson would score 2 more runs batted in by Allie Hock and Kortney Proctor in the 7th. The final score, Simpson 3 Buena Vista 0. Kelsey Host
(below right) went 3-3 at the plate with 3 singles and two stolen bases. Kortney Proctor (below left) also earned two hits with a double and 1 RBI. Whitney Oviatt got the win for the Storm improving her record to 17-9. 
Simpson will return to Indianola this weekend for Senior Day, and the final home contest of the season against Cornell College. The double header will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday April 25th.
