Storm go 3-1 in St. Louis
Carlye Owens (right) (Sr. Norwalk, IA) and the Storm defeated Westminster 1-0 in
St. Louis, Missouri Saturday. Owens picks up her first win of the season while Keri Sorensen (Fr. Bettendorf, IA) went a solid 2-2 at the plate with 1 RBI knocked in. Also contributing to the win was Veronica Roshek (Fr. Urbandale, IA) and Amber Walker (Fr. Prole, IA). Roshek went 1-3 at the plate while Walker went 1-2 and scored the game's only run.
The Storm lost their second game of the day on a late rally by Washington (MO) in the top of the 6th inning. Washington beat Simpson 3-2. Simpson is now 17-7 and will be in action again on Wednesday March 25, in the Storm's home opener against Nebraska Wesleyan at 4 p.m. in Indianola.
St. Louis Missouri
Whitney Oviatt (left) earned two wins on Saturday to improve her record to 13-2 for the season. In the first game on Saturday, the Storm beat Maryville (MO) 4-0. Kelsey Castenson (So. St. Charles, IA) and Amanda Enochs (So. Des Moines, IA) both earned two RBIs to account for all four of Simpson's runs. Oviatt pitched a complete game striking out 5 Maryville batters.
In game two Simpson beat Augustana (Ill) 4-2. Keri Sorensen went 2-3 at the plate and 1 RBI as Simpson improved to 15-6 on the year. Veronica Roshek (Fr. Urbandale, IA), Kortney Proctor (Jr. Wilton, IA), Kelsey Castenson (Jr. Harcourt, IA) and Jessica Barkley (Jr. Mitchellville, IA) all earned hits for Simpson.
