Athlete Spotlight - Whitney Franker
Position: Keeper
High School and Hometown: Urbandale High School, Urbandale, Iowa
Honors: First Team All-Conference soccer and basketball
Senior Whitney Franker has made Simpson her home away from home.
Franker plays both basketball and soccer, which prevents her from getting home during the usual college breaks, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.
“Sports have always been a huge part of my life and always will be,” said Franker. “There is really no other place I would rather spend my winter and spring break than with the teammates that have become my family. Being with them over breaks, whether it’s at school or on a trip, is something I would never change.”
Franker has excelled in both soccer and basketball and has made a lot of friends and memories along the way.
“You end up making the best of friends while playing sports,” said Franker. “You are with them for most of the day, every day, and share the same experiences. Eventually, they become like family, and it’s these relationships that have made my college experience worthwhile.”
