Soccer Coaches

chapmanHead Coach - Cory Chapman is in his fourth season as head women's soccer coach at Simpson. In 2006, Chapman was named Iowa Conference Coach of the Year after leading the Storm to its second Iowa Conference Championship. Simpson was 7-0-1 in league play, marking only the eighth time that women's soccer team went unbeaten in league play. In 2006, Ashley Curran became the fourth Simpson women's soccer player to be named league MVP while goaltender Whitney Franker became the school leader in career shutouts. Chapman has compiled a 28-18-6 record (a .596 winning percentage). Chapman served as the assistant men's and women's soccer coach at Simpson from 2002-04 before taking over the women's program.

Chapman joined the Storm from Viterbo University in La Crosse, Wisconsin where he served as an assistant men's soccer coach in 2001. Chapman played for Viterbo from 2000-01 and was named second team All-Conference as a senior. He joined the Viterbo program after a year at UW-Platteville, where he was named first team All-Conference. Chapman began his soccer career at Bethany Lutheran (Junior) College and named first team All-Region and second team All-American as a freshman.

Chapman earned his United States Soccer Federation Youth License in 2002 and his National Soccer Coaches Association of America National Diploma in 1999. He began his coaching career as an assistant girls' varsity coach at Aquinas High School in La Crosse, Wis.

Chapman earned his undergraduate degree in liberal arts from Viterbo in 2001. He completed his master's degree in liberal studies with an emphasis in health and human performance from Ft. Hays State University (Kan.) in Dec. 2004.

kellyAssistant Coach - Morgan Terlouw is in her first season on the Storm staff.  Terlouw, nee Kelly, was a three-year letterwinner for Simpson from 2004-06, Kelly earned second team All-Conference honors as a junior. She is currently among the top 10 in school history in every major offensive category.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Assistant Coach - Greg Velasquez - Greg Velasquez is in his fourth season on the Simpson staff. Velasquez will work with the goalkeepers. Velasquez played for the Simpson men's soccer team in 2004, going 9-9 with a 1.67 goals against average with 109 saves. From 2000-03, Velasquez played for the Iowa State Club team, leading the Cyclones to four consecutive national club tournament appearances.
