UW-La Crosse Hands Storm 1-0 Double Overtime Defeat
Despite Whitney Franker’s (Sr., Urbandale, Iowa, Urbandale H.S.) 12 saves, Simpson (0-1-1) dropped a 1-0 double overtime decision to UW-La Crosse (1-1). The Eagles tallied the game winning goal with one minute remaining in the match when Chelsea Hall. Cayla Duffy and Erin Wilson were credited with assists on the play. Franker was outstanding throughout the match, making six saves in the first half, three saves in the second half, and three saves in overtime. Although, La Crosse was credited with 31 shots, only 13 were on goal. Freshman Nicole Dillenburg (Urbandale, Iowa, Urbandale H.S.) led the Storm as she took five of Simpson’s nine shots. Of Dillenburg’s five shots, three were credited on goal.
The Storm return to action Wednesday, Sept. 10 when the Storm play Grand View at Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
