Athlete Spotlight - Megan Smith
High School and Hometown: Eagle Grove High School, Eagle Grove, Iowa
Honors: All Conference, letterwinner
Megan Smith's interest in golf is due to a family tradition.
Her mom coached her high school golf team and her sister played in college.
Smith, who is a junior at Simpson, has had a successful career so far. She received All Conference honors all four years of high school, and she placed fourth in the Iowa high school state meet as a senior. As a freshman at Simpson, Smith played in the NCAA Women's Golf Championships.
"The NCAA tournament was an amazing feeling, knowing that I got to play with the best of the best in Division III," said Smith. "It's a dream of every athlete to go to a national tournament and compete. Everyday while I practice, I think about how all my hard work could pay off."
When she's not golfing, Smith participates in the NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills program and is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
