Simpson Dance Team
The dance team consists of an amazing group of talented women and will look to have 15-20 members for the 2008-2009 year.
The dance team practices three times a week for approximately two hours each. Depending on our performance schedule, we may add a practice to ensure we ar performance ready. We are a competitive squad and we do compete in the iowa State Dance and Drill Team Competition, the largest of its kind in the United States. At our performances we demonstrate a variety of dance styles, including pom, jazz, kick, hip hop and lyrical.
The dance team begins practicing the week before classes begin and continue until the first part of March. We perform at all home football games, all home basketball games, the annual Homecoming pep rally and several other performances throughout the year.
Tryouts are held in the spring and the teams are selected shortly after. All candidates must be present to tryout for one of the teams. On rare occasions a videotape tryout is accepted, only with prior approval from the coach. Follow the link for more information regarding dance team tryouts.
