Niemuth Named Conference Coach of the Year

Coach NiemuthBrian Niemuth was named the IIAC Coach of the Year for the fifth time in his career, last week when the all-conference postings were released. Niemuth led the Storm to their 8th Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title this season, which is the Storm's 7th title since 1998. Niemuth is the winningest women's basketball coach in Simpson College history.

 

 


Larson2Carrie Larson (Sr. Tipton, IA) was honored as the IIAC Women's Basketball 2009 Most Valuable Player. Larson averaged 11.2 points per game and averaged over 80% from the free throw line.

 

 

 

 

 


Whitney_frankerWhitney Franker (Jr. Urbandale, IA) earned first team All-IIAC honors. Franker led the Storm in steals and averaged just under ten points per game.  Franker was named IIAC Player of the Week twice in 2008/09 for her performances against Cornell (Dec. 6) and Coe (Feb. 21)

 

 

 

 

 


Maria OliverMaria Oliver (Sr. Florissant, MO) also earned frist team All-IIAC honors. Oliver led the Storm and the conference with 64 blocked shots, averaged 11.2 points per game, and was named IIAC Player of the week for her performance in the IIAC tournament.

 

 

 

 


AmyHamiltonAmy Hamilton (So. Ames. IA) earned second team All-IIAC honors.  Hamilton ranked third in points per game for the Storm with 10.4 ppg. Hamilton led the conference in the 3 point fg percentage with .500.
