Simpson College (13-5) swept a non-conference softball doubleheader from Nebraska Wesleyan (6-4) Mar. 26 in Lincoln, Neb. The Storm won the opener 5-1. The Storm got on the board in top of the fourth when Amanda Esdohr (So., Coon Rapids, Iowa, Coon Rapids-Bayard H.S.) scored on a Nebraska Wesleyan error. The Prairie Wolves tied the score in the bottom of the inning. The Storm took the lead in the sixth when pinch-hitter Jessica Barkley (So., Mitchellville, Iowa, Southeast Polk H.S.) hit a home run to lead off the inning.

Barkley stayed in the game as a designated player and smacked a two-RBI double in the top of the seventh Calie Hohneke (Sr., Indianola, Iowa, Indianola H.S.) added an RBI single later in the frame. Whitney Oviatt (So., Carnation, Wash., Cedarcrest H.S.) and Hohneke combined on a four-hitter with Oviatt earning the victory. Hohneke charted the save. Hohneke and Kelsey Castenson (So.,Harcourt, Iowa, Southeast Webster H.S.) each posted two hits.

The Storm won game two 6-0. Hohneke started the nightcap and tossed a four-hitter. She struck out five. Simpson used a five-run second inning to put the game out of reach. Julie O'Neal (Fr., West Des Moines, Iowa, Valley H.S.) went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a RBI. Hohneke also had an RBI.

Simpson opens Iowa Conference play Saturday against Loras. Originally scheduled to be played in Dubuque. The doubleheader will be moved to Indianola due to poor field conditions. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
