Athlete Spotlight - Wardell Watkins

Honors: Letter winner in football and track, NCAA qualifier in track
After a strong finish last season, Wardell Watkins is looking forward to the upcoming track season.
“I’m excited that the team placed fourth in the conference,” he said. “Hopefully we’ll move up.”
Watkins, a sophomore marketing major, chose to take a closer look at Simpson after meeting with former football head coach Jay Niemann. Niemann convinced Watkins and his family that he would get a great education and be able to play sports at the same time if he came to the college.
Watkins said being a student-athlete has taught him about time management as he has learned to balance school with athletics.
