2009 Kip Janvrin Open
Simpson College hosted the annual Kip Janvrin Open on Friday April 24th in Indianola. 38 teams competed in the meet.
Catie Ellingson (So. Indianola, IA) provisionally qualified for nationals in the 800 meter run with a winning time of 2:12.49 on a beautiful day for a track meet at Bill Buxton stadium on the Simpson College campus. Teammate, Sarah Hammel (Jr. Dorchester, IA) placed 3rd with a time of 2:16.89. Kristin Simpson (Jr. Jefferson, IA) placed 4th in the women's 10000 with a time of 46:17.65. The Storm women's 4x100 meter relay team placed 2nd in 51.74. Ryan Edwardson (Fr. Spencer, IA) placed 1st in the men's 10,000 with a time of 35:43.61. Jake Darrington (Fr. Louisburg, KS) finished 2nd in the javelin with a throw of 174 feet 9 inches. The Simpson men's and women's track teams are competing at the Drake Relays in Des Moines.
