Smith wins 200 and long jump

The Simpson Men's Track team travelled to Waverly, Iowa this past weekend to compete in the Wartburg Select. Senior Zach Smith (left) of St. Louis Missouri won the 200 meter dash, long jump, and was the anchor leg on the winning 4x100 meter relay team. Eric Patten (Jr. Webb, IA) finished 3rd in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:00.44. The Simpson 4x100 meter relay team consisting of Marty Rounds (Jr. Council Bluffs, IA), Kyle Yarkosky (Jr. Albia, IA), Legrand Bien-Aime (Jr. Ft. Lauderdale, FL) and Zach Smith finished in 1st place with a time of 42.47. Scott Danielson
(right) (Jr. Dayton, IA) placed 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 14.44 meters. Jake Darrington of Louisburg Kansas placed 3rd in the Javelin. Darrington, a freshman finished with a throw of 54.24 meters. The Simpson Men's track team will compete again this weekend in the Jim Duncan Invitational at Drake Stadium Saturday April, 11. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
