Tennis Coach
Head Coach - Bob Nutgrass became the all-time winningest
coach in Simpson history Apr. 1, 2006 when Simpson defeated Buena Vista 6-1. In
his 11th season as the head men's tennis coach, Nutgrass is 91-93. He is also
the head women's tennis coach for the Storm and amassed a 84-45 dual record and
is the school's all-time wins leader.
Nutgrass led the Storm men to a school record 13 wins in 2001 and again in 2002. Under his leadership the men had their highest ever team finish (fourth) in 2000 and 2001.
Nutgrass also serves as head of the Simpson physical education department and took over the tennis programs after being the assistant men’s basketball coach for six years. Prior to that he was the high school boys' tennis coach in Marshalltown for eight seasons. He is a 1978 cum laude graduate of Iowa Wesleyan College, received his master’s degree from Western Illinois in 1982 and his specialist degree from Drake University.
