Simpson Defeats Bethany Lutheran 8-1

Simpson College (3-7) defeated Bethany Lutheran (0-2) in men's tennis play Feb. 22 in Mankato, Minn.

Adam SummittNoah Saunders (So., No. 2, Norwalk, Iowa, Norwalk H.S.), Adam Summitt (Fr., No. 3, Urbandale, Iowa, Johnston H.S.), Daniel Schneider (Fr., No. 4, Ft. Madison, Iowa, Ft. Madison H.S.), Kyle Shilling (So., No. 5, Knoxville, Iowa, Knoxville H.S.), and Russell Place (No. 6, Des Moines, Iowa, Norwalk H.S.) all won in straight sets during singles play.

Luke Riessleman (Fr., Boone, Iowa, Boone H.S.) and Place (No. 1), Saunders and Shilling (No. 2), and Summitt and Schneider (No. 3) swept the doubles competition. The Storm doubles teams combined to allow six points during the three matches.

"This was a good win for us," said Simpson head coach Daniel Finn. "I felt like the guys were really into this match and felt they had something to prove, The focus and intensity level were definitely high, and much improved on from the past matches."Simpson heads to Decorah next Saturday for a pair of matches at Luther beginning at 2 p.m.
