Simpson Goes 1-1 At BV

Simpson College split a pair of men's tennis duals Feb. 12 in Storm Lake. The Storm dropped a 6-3 decision to Buena Vista to begin play. Noah Saunders (So., Norwalk, Iowa, Norwalk H.S.) earned a win at No. 3 singles (7-6 (7-5), 0-6, 10-6) over Ben Stone. Also winning in singles was Kyle Shilling (So., Knoxville, Iowa, Knoxville H.S.) who earned a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Erick Stephas at No. 4. Saunders and Shilling were victorious at No. 2 doubles as the duo posted a 8-4 win over Aaron Wiig and Tim Coleman.

Adam SummittThe Storm defeated Dordt 6-3 in Thursday's second match. Simpson won 4-of-6 singles matches with Daniel Schneider (Fr., No. 2, Ft. Madison, Iowa, Ft. Madison H.S.), Saunders (No. 3), Schilling (No. 4), and Adam Summitt (So., No. 5, Knoxville, Iowa, Knoxville H.S.) recording victories. In doubles play, Saunders and Shilling (No. 2) and Schneider and Summitt (No. 3) defeated their Dordt counterparts.

"Although it was a tough loss to take to Buena Vista, the win over Dordt does really help ease the pain as it is nice to have the winless monkey off our back now," said Simpson head coach Daniel Finn.

Simpson will play two duals on Saturday in Waverly against Dominican (Ill.) and Wartburg beginning at 12 p.m.
