Simpson defeats Doane 5-4
In a dual match tournament this past weekend in Crete, Nebraska, the Storm Men's Tennis team defeated Doane College 5-4. Adam Summitt (Fr. Urbandale, IA), Noah Saunders (So. Norwalk, IA), Kyle Shilling (So. Knoxville, IA), and Russell Place (left) all earned singles victories for Simpson. Russ Place (Sr. Des Moines, IA / Norwalk High School) defeated Tanner Vitko of Doane 6-0 and 6-1. Noah Saunders and Kyle Shilling defeated the doubles team of Josh Siske and Tony Bieck of Doane 8-5.
"It was definitely a big win today. With some players out and others coming off being sick, the way we fought and came from behind to win was great. In the early going I have to say I wasn't really happy with the effort we were putting out but the boys responded really well and fought back this time and brought home a big win for the season. I know if this team plays like they are capable of we can accomplish some pretty big things this season." -Head Coach Daniel Finn
The Storm will be back in action this Tuesday, April 7th against Central in Indianola beginning at 3 p.m.
