Luther Edges Simpson, 1-0
DECORAH, Iowa (Oct. 10, 2009) – A penalty kick in the sixth minute was the difference in the men’s soccer match between Simpson and Luther Saturday evening, as the Norse edged the Storm, 1-0.
Michael Olson’s first goal of the season came off a penalty kick 5 minutes and 41 seconds into the match, as Luther (4-6-1, 2-2 IIAC) ended Simpson’s three-match winning streak.
Simpson (5-4-2, 2-2 IIAC) attempted six shots on the night, putting three on goal.
Josh Youngman made five saves in goal for Simpson, while Steve O’Meara had three for Luther.
Simpson has a week off before traveling to Coe Oct. 17 for a 3 p.m. start at Cedar Rapids.
