Men's Soccer Blanks Ottawa

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Playing on a neutral field at the Davenport Soccer Complex, the Simpson men’s soccer team notched a 2-0 victory over NAIA Ottawa (Kan.) on Friday.
Jim Frizzell (Grimes, Iowa) scored the game’s first goal for and assisted on the second, as Simpson (1-0-1) earned its first victory of the 2009 season.
After Frizzell began the scoring at the 7:30 mark, Sandro Tadic (Urbandale, Iowa) gave Simpson a two-goal edge in the 57th minute off the assist from Frizzell.
Jeremy Ward (Norwalk, Iowa) grabbed four saves in the shutout.
Simpson hosts Puget Sound in the home opener at Buxton Stadium Sunday, with kickoff set for 1 p.m.
