Athlete Spotlight - James Montgomery
High School and Hometown: Knoxville High School, Knoxville, Iowa
James Montgomery started playing golf with his dad when he was seven when he got his first set of golf clubs. His main interest in the sport came from watching his dad play when he would tag along on golf trips.
"I love golf because it's outdoors and it takes a lot of mental ability," said Montgomery. "It may not be the most physical sport but it requires a lot of practice and mental toughness."
With new coach Jason Marvelli's help, Montgomery thinks the team has progressed well so far.
"Personally, this season I hope to finish in the top 10 in some tournaments and hope our team finishes in the top three," he said.
Montgomery is majoring in management and one day hopes to work for a golf company or run a golf course.
