Former Simpson All-American Dusty Kain Makes Debut For Iowa Barnstormers
Former Simpson College All-American Dusty Kain (2002-05) made his debut for the Iowa Barnstormers July 12 in Des Moines. Kain made one catch for 18 yards as the Barnstormers defeated the Quad City Steamwheelers 76-53. Kain's catch, a shoestring job, earned him the Cutter's Catch of the Game honors. He made 4.5 tackles on special teams for the Barnstormers (5-9). Iowa resumes action July 19 at the Lexington Fire.
Kain, who earned third team D3football.com All-American honors in 2003, is the school record holder for career receptions (196), career receiving yards (3,210), career touchdown catches (27), most catches in a season (93, 2003), most receiving yards in a season (1,466), and most touchdown receptions (14, 2003) in a season. He was a finalist for the 2005 Gagliardi Trophy.
The 5-10 Prairie City native, was selected first team All-Conference as a sophomore and in 2005 as a senior. He also earned second team All-Conference honors as a returner in 2005. Kain also lettered four times for the Storm baseball team.
