Simpson holds on in the 9th to beat Coe

RasmussenCory Rasmussen (left) threw out Coe's Michael Szela at home plate from center field in the top of the 9th to prevent Szela from scoring to tie the game 6-6. On the next play, Jesse Reis threw out Coe's Adam Nisenson at 1st to secure the 6-5 victory for the Storm. Scott Ethell (below right) went 3-4 in the batter's chalk with a double and 2 RBIs. Chris Jones (below left) earned 2 RBIs with 3 hits and 2 doubles on Sunday. Jones scored what proved to be the game winning run in the bottom of the 6th inning driven in by Cory Rasmussen. Coe scored 3 runs in the 8th inning but the Storm Ethelldefense held on for the win. Kyle Hanna was credited with the victory for Simpson and Jared Sass earned the save. Simpson dropped the series to Coe 1-2. On Friday JonesCoe defeated Simpson in both games; 5-1 and 7-2.

The Storm will return to action this weekend against Loras College in Dubuque Iowa. One game will be played on Friday April 24th and the double header will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday April 25.
