Baseball picks up two wins against Dubuque

Game 1: Simpson 4 Dubuque 3
reisJesse Reis' double in the 4th inning drove in Curt Bjork (Sr. Mt Vernon, IA) and Jared Swim (Sr. West Des Moines, IA) to take the lead 4-3 in the first game of the Storm's double header against Dubuque on Wednesday in Indianola. The Simpson Baseball team had a big 4th inning in game 1 scoring 4 runs to take the lead over Dubuque; a lead they would never relinquish. Reis (left) went 2-3 at the plate with 2 RBIs. Jared Swim had 1 hit with 2 RBIs. Also earning hits for Simpson were: Dave Johnson (So. West Des Moines, IA), and Scott Ethell (Jr. Knoxville, IA). Chris Dorff (Fr. Urbandale, IA) was awarded the win for the Storm and Jared Sass (Sr. Iowa City, IA) got the save.

Game 2: Simpson 12 Dubuque 3
In game 2 of the double header, Simpson had 12 runs on 10 hits to beat Dubuque 12-3. Curt Bjork (right) went 2-3 with a two run homer in the 4th inning. Cory Rasmussen (Jr. West DesBjork Moines, IA) went 3-4 at the plate with a triple and an RBI. Jesse Reis had two doubles on two hits and 2 RBIs. Chris Jones (Sr. Germantown, WI) went 2-3 at the plate with a double and 2 RBIs. Scott Ethell had 1 hit and earned 2 RBIs. The game was never in doubt as Simpson scored 5 runs in the 6th inning to expand their lead to 9. Dan Murphy (Sr. Des Moines, IA) was awarded the victory, his second of the year. The Storm are now 13-7 overall and 6-2 in the IIAC. Simpson will take on Central this weekend in a 3 game series at McBride field on the Simpson Campus. Game 1 is Friday night at 6 p.m. and the double header on Saturday will begin at 1:00 p.m.
