Member Spotlight of the Season
Ken Johnson
Ken Johnson is the Gold Club Member of the Season. A basketball and baseball letterwinner, Ken was a member of Kappa Theta Psi. He graduated from Simpson in 1958 with a degree in physical education. He later earned a masters degree from Northeast Missouri (now Truman) State. Ken has served as a Class Agent for Simpson, writing letters to classmates to help with fundraising and is a Simpson Gold Club board member.
Ken is a member of the Simpson Athletic Hall of Fame (inducted in 1997) as is his son Joel, who was inducted in 2001 after an All-American baseball career at Simpson. Ken was inducted into Epsilon Sigma (the honor fraternity) as an alumni member in 1973.
Ken is a member of the National Association of Secondary Principals, Educational Administrators of Iowa, the Iowa High School Athletic Directors' Association, and the United Methodist Church.
Ken has proven to be a consistenly strong supporter and donor to the Gold Club. All Gold Club members like Ken, have the option to designate up to 50% of their membership dues to directly support the sport of their choice. Another aspect of the Gold Club they believe is beneficial to Simpson student-athletes is the recognition seniors are given for their hard work and time spent in the program. The Gold Club gives watches to all graduating seniors who have completed four years of athletic competition in a sport. The commitment to compete and complete a four-year career in college athletics is an noteworthy accomplishment and one the Gold Club feels should be recognized as such.
Thank you to Ken Johnson for all of his monetary and time contributions to the Gold Club, helping to raise the level of our support to current Storm teams. With the help of supporters like Ken, we are providing Simpson student-athletes with superior opportunities for success.
