Study Table
Purpose
The purpose of this program is designed to provide an academic support system for first-year, transfer and current student-athletes. It is our assignment to track academic progress, provide follow-up counseling, monitor study hours and coordinate tutorial services if necessary.
Study Table Athletes
- All first-year student-athletes
- Returning student-athletes with below a 2.3 cumulative GPA
- New transfer student-athletes based on coach’s approval/recommendations and/or circumstances as needed
Study Table Requirements
- A minimum of five hours per week is required and will be completed by Fridays at 4:30 p.m. Study tables will be available Monday through Friday (8a.m.-4:30 p.m.) and Wednesday and Sunday evenings (6p.m.-9p.m.)
- The Hawley Academic Center will house the study table. Check-in at the front desk computer
- GPA evaluations will be examined the last week of the first semester to determine which student-athletes will continue study table hours second semester
- Hours spent with tutors will count toward the required number of study table hours
- Additional study tables hours will be monitored by CHAMPS mentors on Sunday and Wednesday evenings from 6 to 9p.m. in the Hawley Academic Resource Center
- Special circumstances that may excuse students from study table (team travel, academic requirements lab responsibilities or competition) will be approved by the athletic academic liaison/assistant director of the Learning Center and head coach of the student sport.
Weekly attendance reports will be submitted to the athletic director, athletic/ academic liaison as well as the head coach of the student-athlete’s current season.
If a student-athlete does not meet the minimum five hours per week required, they will be disciplined based upon the coach’s discretion.
