Community Advisors in the traditional halls
One of the first people you will meet in the residence halls is the Community Advisor (CA). CA’s are sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are here to make you feel at home. This team is your best and closest resource and can assist you in becoming successful in the residence hall and College community. CA’s take part in the day-to-day activities of hall life and plan educational and social programs for their floor and for the entire hall. Community Advisors are trained in a wide variety of areas including roommate issues, conflict resolution, accessing campus resources, learning how to become involved in the campus community, turning in work orders and helping everyone live together better by upholding community standards. They are effective in solving problems and are good listeners when you just need someone to talk to.

These include coordination of hall or area wide-events, annual Simpson events, and academic related programs. There are 2 Programming Assistants in each of the first-year halls and 1 for the sophomore area.

Student Hall Coordinators
The Student Hall Coordinators (SHCs) are responsible for the day-to-day activities of Kresge Hall and Picken Hall. They also help the Area Coordinator work with CA's and advise hall council. Student Hall Coordinators are our senior student staff members that have formerly served in a Community Advisor role. They live in the first floor staff apartments in Kresge and Picken Halls and are directly supervised by the Area Coordinator. Student Hall Coordinators are available to assist you with your questions and concerns about housing, vending machine refunds, maintenance requests, and other general information. Feel free to stop by and/or make an appointment with your SHC.
