Residence Life

Residence Halls

While each hall is different in size and structure, each is set up and furnished for your safety and convenience.  Each traditional hall contains lounges, study areas, computer rooms, coin-operated laundry facilities, vending machines, and a kitchenette.  All of our residence halls are air-conditioned and fully carpeted.  Each room is equipped with computer data jacks for connecting personal computers to the campus network and Internet.  Cable television service is also available.  While each room may vary in size and shape, your room will be furnished with a desk and chair, bed, dresser, closet space, window coverings, phone jack, and smoke detector.  All mattresses take 80" twin sheets.

Barker Hall

Barker Residence HallBarker Hall was built in 1954, renovated in 2002, and had a 76-bed addition completed in the fall of 2005.  With the addition, Barker now houses 189 first-year men and women in a variety of double, triple, and quad rooms on 3 floors.  Each floor has community bath facilities.  The first floor has a main lounge area, while the lower level houses an additional large lounge space, a laundry and vending area, and a computer room.  The hall kitchen is on the second floor.  Barker Hall is a substance-free building (no smoking, alcohol, etc.)

Buxton Hall

Buxton Residence HallBuxton Hall provides co-ed suite-style housing for 134 upper division students in large four-person rooms that share a bathroom with the adjoining same-sex room.  Buxton Hall was built in 1967 and renovated in 1998 and 1999.  On the first floor are the main lounge, kitchenette, computer room, laundry and vending area, and the Area Coordinator's office.  Buxton Hall has four floors.  Buxton Hall is a substance-free building (no smoking, alcohol, etc.)


Kresge Hall

Kresge HallKresge Hall is the oldest and largest residence hall on the Simpson College campus.  It was built in 1949, had an addition completed in 1961, and was newly renovated in 2001.  Kresge provides living accommodations for 215 first-year men and women on three floors.  While mainly comprised of two-person rooms, some triples, and quads are also available.  Each wing has a community bath and laundry facilities.  The first floor houses the main lounge, Area Coordinator's office, and vending area.  There is also a computer room, kitchen, laundry, exercise equipment, and a lounge area in the basement of Kresge Hall.  Kresge Hall is a substance-free building (no smoking, alcohol, etc.)

Picken Hall

Picken HallPicken Hall was built in 1988.  Picken houses 84 male and female upper division students in suite-style accommodations.  Most rooms are set up as two-person rooms that share a bathroom with an adjoining room.  The lower level rooms are triple rooms with a community bath.  This floor is available through "Floor Draw" during the room selection process.  Picken Hall has three floors.  The computer room, lounge, and SHC apartment are located on first floor.  The main lounge, laundry, pool table, exercise equipment, and vending are located in the basement.  Picken Hall is a substance-free building (no smoking, alcohol, etc.)

Worth House

Worth HouseWorth House is a co-ed residence hall on campus, housing 36 upper-division students.  Worth House is a small traditional residence hall consisting of three floors.  Each floor has a community bath.  Coin-operated laundry facilities are available on 2nd and 3rd floor.  All of the rooms are two-person rooms.
