Residence Life employs many students that serve Simpson College and resident students in important ways. Below is general information regarding the different kinds of positions and opportunities we have available. For more information, feel free to ask any member of the residence life staff, or stop in the office of Student Development.
For new or returning applicants:
Community Advisors (18 positions, in traditional halls)
Community Advisor (CA) stipends are equal to the regular room rate plus 40% board (of the 12-flex meal plan). If you are a new applicant, please download an application and reference forms here. These applications are due to the Student Development office on Friday, February 1. If you are a returning staff member, fill out a re-application, due Friday, January 18, to Student Development.Programming Assistants (3 positions, 1 each in Barker, Kresge, and the sophomore area)
Programming Assistant (PA) stipends are equal to the regular room rate plus 60% board (of the 12-flex meal plan). If you are a new applicant, please download an application and reference form here. These applications are due to the Student Development office on Friday, February 1. If you are a returning staff member, fill out a re-application, due Friday, January 18, to Student Development. One year of Residence Life staff experience strongly preferred.House Assistants (5, in college-owned Greek chapters)
The House Assistant (HA) stipend is equal to the regular room rate. Generally, the five House Assistants are members (1 each) of the five college-owned fraternity and sorority buildings. The college-owned Greek buildings are Alpha Tau Omega (ATO), Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE), Lambda Chi Alpha (LXA), Kappa Theta Psi (KTP), and Kappa Kappa Gamma (KKG). For Juniors and Seniors only:
Student Hall Coordinators (One each in Kresge and Picken)
Student Hall Coordinators have seen and will continue to see an increase in their responsibilities and in our reliance on them. Student Hall Coordinators serve as the senior student staff member for their hall and area of campus. The Student Hall Coordinators stipend is equal to the standard room rate plus 80% board. Student Hall Coordinators live in the apartments on the first floor of Kresge and Picken. Must have one full year of experience as a Residence Life Community Advisor or House Advisor. The Community Advisors living in apartments are known as CAs. Each apartment building has 1 CA except Station Square which has 2. The CA stipend is equal to the regular room rate plus 40% board rate (of the 6-flex meal plan). One full year of Residence Life staff experience is strongly preferred.
